Supercharged Entertainment Breaks Ground on Polaris Indoor Karting Complex
The 125,545-square-foot facility secured a zoning variance for 340 parking spaces ahead of a scheduled Summer 2027 opening.
Construction is underway in northern Columbus on a regional family entertainment destination that will bring multi-level indoor karting to the Polaris commercial corridor.
Supercharged Entertainment partnered with master developer NP Limited Partnership to break ground Wednesday, September 2, 2026, on a multi-attraction center at 9300 Lyra Drive in Polaris. The project occupies a 16-acre site on the southeast corner of Lyra Drive and East Powell Road, placing the new venue near existing recreational draws such as Topgolf and Smash Park ahead of a targeted Summer 2027 grand opening.
Zoning Review and Parking Variance
The development advanced following municipal review by the City of Columbus Department of Building and Zoning Services and approval from the Board of Zoning Adjustment.
Developer representative ARCO / Murray National Holdings, Inc. submitted variance application BZA26-043 on behalf of property owner NP Limited Partnership. The application sought relief from Columbus City Code Section 3312.49 governing required parking.
Under standard commercial center standards, constructing a 125,545-square-foot indoor entertainment facility mandated 419 stalls. The applicant requested permission to reduce the minimum number of parking spaces required from 419 spaces to 340 spaces because 72,137 square feet of the building interior is dedicated to an electric karting track structure that accommodates limited physical occupancy compared to standard retail or assembly uses. The site dimension plan prepared by Sands Decker Engineers & Surveyors under SD Project No. 5239 laid out 340 total surface spaces, including eight accessible stalls, four installed electric vehicle charging stalls, 53 EV-capable spaces, and bicycle racks accommodating 20 bicycles.
The Columbus Board of Zoning Adjustment heard the application on July 8, 2026, granting the variance for 340 spaces. The decision cleared the way for initial earthwork and the September groundbreaking.
Architectural Design and Interior Attractions
Architectural drawings submitted for the project outline a contemporary commercial structure featuring varied composite textures and expansive glass entries.
Exterior elevations dated April 16, 2026 and prepared by Aria Group specify insulated metal panels in smooth and stucco textures, accent faux brick finishes, and wood-toned composite panels framing the parapets. The primary public facade on the south elevation includes a two-story vaulted glass entry atrium alongside an enclosed transparent storefront viewing window for a tower ride, accented by exterior canopy lighting and backlit building signage.
Inside, the building is designed to mirror the original Supercharged in Edison, New Jersey. The primary attraction consists of two multi-level electric karting tracks with 25 combined elevation changes that can be combined into a single 80,000 square-foot Supertrack.
Complementary attractions outlined in project filings and company announcements include:
- Time Mission, a team-based attraction with more than 30 challenge rooms where groups race the clock and each other for the highest score.
- A two-story arcade floor with nearly 180 video, prize, and virtual reality gaming machines.
- The Drop & Twist Tower, a two-story ride that spins and drops through every floor of the building.
- A full-service restaurant and bar, accompanied by dedicated private event spaces with catering.
Brand Ownership and Polaris Corridor Expansion
The Polaris complex represents the fourth nationwide location for Supercharged Entertainment and marks the 5th entertainment venue opened and operated by the Sangermano family. The operating entity is led by Stephen and Sandra Sangermano, who serve as president and chief executive officer.
The Sangermanos selected the Polaris corridor due to regional population growth and the existing concentration of hospitality destinations surrounding Polaris Fashion Place. The venue is being built on land owned by long-term master developer NP Limited Partnership. Franz Geiger, managing director of NP Limited Partnership, welcomed the venue to POLARIS Centers of Commerce, describing the karting complex as a destination experience that complements existing retail and entertainment options.
General contractor teams will continue structural steel assembly through late 2026, with interior fit-outs scheduled through mid-2027 prior to the planned Summer 2027 debut.
