Columbus Enacts Withdrawal of Liquor Permit Objection for Three Star Food Mart
Columbus City Council has enacted legislation withdrawing its permit objection for Three Star Food Mart under an agreement requiring security cameras, lighting upgrades and staff training.
Columbus City Council has enacted legislation withdrawing its objection to the state liquor permit renewal for Three Star Food Mart at 1107 E. Weber Rd., according to city records. Council adopted the emergency measure on Oct. 26, Mayor Andrew J. Ginther signed it on Oct. 27, and the City Clerk completed enactment with formal attestation on Oct. 28. Under the resolution, the emergency measure takes effect from and after its passage and approval by the mayor, municipal filings show.
Previously, Pique Media reported on Oct. 23 that Columbus City Council was scheduled to vote on withdrawing liquor permit objections for Linden and Hilltop stores.
The withdrawal follows a negotiated nuisance abatement agreement between the city and store management that mandates security camera installations, lighting upgrades, modified operating hours and employee training. The agreement was reached in lieu of pursuing the outstanding objection, with the city reserving the right to object to the liquor license in the future or bring the establishment into Franklin County Environmental Court should the owners not comply.
Council had previously objected to the store's permit renewal after receiving evidence from police and prosecutors. The Ohio Division of Liquor Control requested that the city withdraw the objection by resolution, as the store had operated liquor sales on a temporary goodwill basis without a valid 2026 liquor permit.
To finalize the process, the legislation directs the Columbus City Clerk to forward a certified copy of the resolution to state liquor control officials.
