Schneider Downs Leases 29,265 Square Feet at Grandview Yard to Expand Columbus Office

The accounting firm will expand its Central Ohio office space by 50 percent when it moves from downtown Columbus in May 2027.

Schneider Downs & Co. has signed a commercial lease for 29,265 square feet at 1050 Yard Street in Grandview Heights, expanding its Central Ohio physical footprint by 50.3 percent as it prepares to relocate from downtown Columbus.

The Pittsburgh-based accounting and advisory firm currently leases 19,472 square feet at 65 East State Street. According to reporting by the Pittsburgh Business Times, Schneider Downs confirmed the lease agreement and plans to complete its move to the Grandview Yard development in May 2027.

The firm announced the lease as an investment in regional growth that positions its teams to better serve clients and collaborate across practice areas. Schneider Downs ranks among the 60 largest public accounting, tax, wealth management, and business advisory firms in the nation, maintaining offices in Pittsburgh, Columbus and McLean, Virginia.

Advisory Partnership and Workplace Strategy

To guide its relocation from downtown Columbus to Grandview Heights, Schneider Downs collaborated with commercial real estate brokerage JLL. The firm partnered with JLL throughout the relocation process, drawing on workplace strategy studies, employee feedback and commercial market evaluations to select a space aligned with its operational goals.

Firm executives said the new location is designed to accommodate changing workplace expectations, enhance client hosting capabilities and support staffing additions across accounting, tax, consulting and wealth management practices.

The move deepens a regional presence that began in the 1980s. Schneider Downs has maintained an office in Columbus for nearly four decades, a period during which Central Ohio grew into an active hub for manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, financial services, construction and technology enterprises.

“Columbus has been an important part of our firm’s story for decades, and we continue to be energized by the opportunities we see across Central Ohio,” Adam Goode, chief executive officer of Schneider Downs, said in a statement. “This investment reflects our confidence in the market and the businesses that continue to drive its momentum. Our new office creates a space where our people can collaborate, we can connect with our clients, and our firm can continue building for the future.”

Audit Shareholder Kim James said the firm's long-term commitment to Columbus guided the decision. “Columbus is home to an incredible community of businesses, organizations and leaders, and Schneider Downs is proud to be part of that story,” James said. “This investment reflects our long-term commitment to Columbus and our desire to continue building meaningful relationships that help our clients, our people and our community thrive. As we look ahead, we are excited to deepen our roots in Central Ohio and continue supporting the businesses and organizations that make this region such a vibrant place to live and work.”

Grandview Yard Accounting Hub

The lease at 1050 Yard Street reinforces Grandview Yard's role as a major hub for accounting and professional service firms in the Columbus metropolitan area. Grandview Yard is a 125-acre, $1 billion urban-style mixed-use community featuring commercial offices, residential developments, green corridors and pedestrian walkways just northwest of downtown Columbus.

The development already houses significant accounting operations. Three other firms that rank among the 10 largest accounting practices in Columbus currently maintain offices at 995 Yard Street. When Schneider Downs opens its 29,265-square-foot office at 1050 Yard Street in May 2027, the firm's arrival will expand that total to four major accounting practices operating within the development.
