Demolition Permit Filed for 2084 North High Street in University District
A new municipal application seeks clearance of the two-story building on a block targeted for a large student housing complex.
A commercial demolition permit application was filed on Friday, Oct. 9, to raze the two-story commercial building at 2084 N. High St. in Columbus's University District. The property, located at the southeast corner of North High Street and East Frambes Avenue, houses a Donatos Pizza restaurant and venue space.
The application, designated DEMO2641029, was submitted sequentially alongside companion filings on the same city block: DEMO2641028, seeking demolition of a three-story commercial structure at 2060 N. High St., and DEMO2641030, targeting a two-story commercial building at 15 E. Frambes Ave.
The block is the focus of a proposed redevelopment where Francisco Rios, on behalf of developer RPM Living, filed Certificate of Appropriateness application COA2601050 on Sept. 29. That filing proposed replacing the former PJ's Sandwiches and Ohio Stater buildings with a 228-unit, 866-bed student housing complex and 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.
Earlier civil plans submitted for that student housing project designated 2084 N. High St. as an existing building to remain, while marking other surrounding parcels for demolition. The new demolition filing indicates a potential shift toward expanded site clearance for the block-scale redevelopment.
Municipal records show the demolition filing remains active under review by the University Area Commission and city officials. The application currently leaves the applicant unnamed, the contractor unassigned, and includes no public attachments.
