Granville Authorizes State Funding Application for Newark-Granville Road Stormwater Improvements

The village authorized an application to the Ohio Public Works Commission to help fund drainage work addressing localized flooding.

The Granville Village Council on Oct. 21 approved a resolution authorizing the village manager to apply for state funding for stormwater improvements along Newark-Granville Road. The measure designates the planned drainage work to mitigate localized flooding along the road corridor as a priority need for the community.

Under the legislation, designated in village records as Resolution No. 2026-45 to identify the project in municipal filings, the village manager is authorized to seek financial assistance through the Ohio Public Works Commission's State Capital Improvement or Local Transportation Improvement programs. The measure also permits the manager to enter into any agreements necessary to secure the state assistance.

In an Oct. 16 memorandum recommending approval, Village Manager Herb Koehler advised council members that the application is for necessary stormwater improvements along the roadway. The approved resolution was certified following council action by Mayor Melissa Hartfield, Clerk of Council Autumn Klein, and Law Director William Mattes.
