Drivers and commercial freight haulers on Columbus' south side face multi-month roadway restrictions near the Scioto River. For the westbound work zone from Haul Road to Frank Road, the Haul Road to 104 WB ramp is closed work zone.

According to state traffic feeds, the full ramp closure affects a 0.203-mile segment and was scheduled to begin Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, running through Dec. 31, 2026. However, the Ohio Department of Transportation marked both the start date and the scheduled completion date as unverified in state records. On Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, active state records continued to show work zone listings for the area, but public feeds contained no designated detour route.

Along mainline Frank Road immediately west of the interchange, state records also show work zone restrictions over the Scioto River. A work zone on westbound Frank Road reports shoulder closures on SR 104 westbound over Scioto River work zone. The shoulder restriction covers a 0.201-mile segment scheduled to run from Oct. 9, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2026, with all travel lanes remaining open and both dates marked unverified by the agency.

The ramp shutdown directly affects heavy freight traffic and municipal operations across south Columbus. Haul Road provides primary access for regional aggregate haulers, quarry operations, and concrete facilities operating along the Scioto River corridor. It also serves as the sole roadway leading to the City of Columbus auto impound facility, located south of State Route 104. Drivers leaving the impound lot and nearby facilities who seek to head westbound toward Interstate 71 must navigate local surface streets without state-designated detour signage.

The corridor has required previous bridge maintenance and structural inspection. According to Columbus police, the bridge on State Route 104 and Haul Road was closed after being struck by a dump truck, and ODOT investigated the damage to the bridge bridge strike. That collision occurred in October 2025, temporarily shutting the overpass before state inspectors cleared the roadway to reopen.
