Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle on South High Street in Brewery District
A person was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center after being struck near South High and East Beck streets Friday night, while the vehicle involved stayed at the scene.
One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle in the Brewery District Friday night, police said.
Columbus police officers were called to the intersection of South High Street and East Beck Street around 7:20 p.m. on a report of a pedestrian struck. The Columbus Police Department was called to S. High Street at E. Beck Street at 7:21 p.m. on the report of a car that had hit a pedestrian.
The vehicle involved stayed on scene.
Columbus Fire transported the person struck to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, where they were pronounced dead at 7:40 p.m.
The CPD Accident Investigation Unit has been dispatched to the scene.
The collision occurred Friday night, Oct. 16, 2026, at the intersection connecting the Brewery District and German Village neighborhoods just south of downtown Columbus. Columbus police have not yet released the victim's identity, and additional factors surrounding the crash remain pending investigation.
