Columbus City Council weighs advance grant for Columbus Metropolitan Club expansion
The proposed $23,000 grant would support public forums and digital engagement tools as the Columbus Metropolitan Club marks 50 years.
Columbus City Council is considering an advance payment grant of up to $23,000 to the Columbus Metropolitan Club to support the organization's CMC Next civic engagement initiative. The legislation is currently on second reading before council. Columbus City Council completed a first reading on Monday, Oct. 26, and is scheduled to consider the grant agreement on second reading and hold a vote on Monday, Nov. 2.
Under the proposed agreement, the city would distribute the grant through an advance payment structure rather than through cost reimbursement because the nonprofit lacks operating capital to run the program on reimbursement alone. According to city legislative records, the grant draws $13,000 from the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund and $10,000 from the General Fund.
