Reynoldsburg Enacts $45,733 Contract for Police Lot Fleet Charging Station
City Council enacted Ordinance No. 65-2026 on third reading, funding Ohio Electric Services to install charging equipment dedicated to city vehicles.

Reynoldsburg City Council enacted legislation Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, authorizing a contract to construct an electric vehicle charging station at the Reynoldsburg Police Department parking lot.
The measure, designated as Ordinance No. 65-2026, appeared as Item 15.a on the consent agenda for third reading during council's regular evening meeting. The legislation was passed by council and approved by Mayor Joe Begeny that same evening.
Under the ordinance, the mayor is authorized to execute a contract with Ohio Electric Services for the construction and installation of the EV charging station. Council approved a capital appropriation of $45,733 from the General Fund (Fund 110) to account number 110..5339 (Miscellaneous Contract Services) to fund the agreement.
The installation is specifically dedicated to supporting the electrification of the city's municipal fleet rather than general public vehicle access. Legislative findings in the measure note that the city continues to explore alternative fuel options—including hybrid, compressed natural gas, and electric technologies—for its growing municipal fleet, following earlier EV charging installations in 2020 and 2021.
The station will be situated at the Reynoldsburg Police Department parking lot, capitalizing on underground infrastructure installed during parking lot improvement projects in 2022 and 2023. Under the contract, Ohio Electric Services will perform the remaining electrical tasks, including additional conduit, wiring, and the new charging station hardware.
Under Section 3 of the ordinance, the measure took effect immediately following the signature of the mayor on Sept. 28, 2026.
