Shooting on North Burgess Avenue Leaves One Person in Critical Condition

Columbus police responded to the Hilltop neighborhood Tuesday evening after gunfire left a victim critically injured.

One person was hospitalized in critical condition following a shooting Tuesday evening in Columbus's Hilltop neighborhood.

According to a Columbus public safety dispatcher, officers were called to the first block of North Burgess Avenue around 7:40 p.m. on Sept. 29, 2026, following a report of a shooting. Emergency responders found one person wounded at the scene, and medics transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

The shooting occurred along the unit block of North Burgess Avenue on the city's west side. Local television stations NBC4 and WBNS 10TV reported that police dispatchers confirmed the response and critical transport Tuesday night.

As of Tuesday night, authorities had released no additional details regarding the victim's identity, suspect descriptions, or potential motives.
