East Columbus Shooting Leaves One Dead and Another Injured on Barnett Road

One person is dead and another was critically injured following an overnight shooting in east Columbus on Sunday, Oct. 4, local news reports said.

According to a Columbus public safety dispatcher, police were called to the 900 block of Barnett Road around 2:15 a.m. Sunday on a report of a shooting.

Columbus police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, where two victims suffered severe injuries. Upon arrival, two people were transported to a hospital in critical condition, police said. One victim was subsequently pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital, while the second victim remained hospitalized in critical condition.

The shooting occurred along the 900 block of Barnett Road, a residential corridor situated on the city's east side between East Main Street and East Livingston Avenue. The neighborhood is located just east of Bexley and south of Interstate 70 in east Columbus.

As of Sunday, the Columbus Division of Police has not released the identities of either victim, and officials said that no suspect information or motive has been announced.
