Recent court documents site police calls to the club, including one on Oct. 18 where a man said he was shot on the way to his car after leaving the club. Court records also site an additional call from Sunday where responding officers found a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound to his chest at 5 a.m.

Beyond the weekend shootings, city officials reported that the venue had become the site of recurring criminal offenses and law enforcement runs. The city attorney’s office said the club had numerous illegal activities take place, ranging from vehicle break-ins and assaults to repeated shots-fired calls to police. Additionally, the nightclub was accused of violating liquor codes and selling alcohol after hours. The enforcement action follows what the city attorney described as a history of violence, illegal liquor sales at the venue.

Following the municipal enforcement action, Aurora Nightlife was boarded up and evicted from the premises, according to the release from the city attorney's office. In resolving the city's complaint, the owners of the club agreed with municipal officials to strict terms should any future tenant seek to move into the commercial space. Under the agreement, the property will also undergo regular inspections for compliance, according to court records.
