Demolition Permit Filed to Raze Former Sales Office at 2500 Airport Drive
The commercial teardown application marks the site-clearing step following a foundation filing for The Hangar apartment project.
A commercial demolition permit application was submitted Wednesday, Oct. 7, to the City of Columbus to raze the former sales office building at 2500 Airport Dr.
The application, filed under permit record DEMO2640599, proposes the demolition of a 1-story, 6,265-square-foot former sales office to grade. Municipal records list the filing's status as active.
The demolition filing serves as the site-clearing step for the planned redevelopment of the 5.7-acre property, which previously housed DeMonye's Greenhouse, a family-owned business operating in Columbus since 1929. Columbus-based developer Rocky Point Partners acquired the property to construct a 130-unit apartment community, a project estimated to cost approximately $31 million.
Previously, Pique reported on Oct. 5 that an initial foundation permit application was submitted for The Hangar at 2500 Airport Dr.
That earlier intake submission was logged under temporary tracking number 26TMP-091906 for a multi-family foundation.
The demolition permit application remains under review, and city records designate no demolition contractor or start date for the tear-down. Full building permits also remain required before construction can begin on the apartment community.
