Foundation Permit Application Filed for The Hangar on Airport Drive
An initial intake filing marks the first step in municipal review for the redevelopment of the former DeMonye's Greenhouse site.
An initial multi-family foundation permit application was submitted Monday, Oct. 5, for The Hangar, a planned residential redevelopment at 2500 Airport Dr. near John Glenn Columbus International Airport.
According to public records on the City of Columbus Department of Building and Zoning Services Accela portal, the filing was logged under temporary tracking number 26TMP-091906 for a multi-family foundation. The temporary record represents an initial intake submission awaiting formal review, and city building officials have not yet approved architectural plans or issued full building permits for the project.
The 5.7-acre property previously housed DeMonye's Greenhouse, a family-owned local business that operated since 1929. Columbus-based developer Rocky Point Partners acquired the property and announced plans in May 2026 to construct a 130-unit apartment community on the site. The proposed development carries an estimated cost of approximately $31 million.
When Rocky Point Partners announced the project, the developer said the name was chosen to reflect its proximity to the airport and tentatively projected groundbreaking in late 2026. The Oct. 5 intake filing initiates the city's review process, though formal plan reviews and permit approvals remain required before construction can begin.
