LANCASTER, Ohio — Fairfield County and contractor Axis Civil Construction LLC are advancing the replacement of the Hamburg Road bridge toward a scheduled completion date of Oct. 30, 2026.
The bridge preservation undertaking, designated as State Project 26N130 and PID 113793, replaces bridge structure SFN 2337258 along County Road 55 between straight-line mileage 3.28 and mileage 3.32 in Fairfield County. Regional transportation planning records identify County Road 55 as Hamburg Road.
The Fairfield County Board of Commissioners formally awarded the bridge contract during a regular meeting on April 28, 2026. Axis Civil Construction LLC secured the local-let contract at $1,655,115.74, with engineering design prepared by the Fairfield County Engineer.
Prior to contract bidding, the Central Ohio Rural Planning Organization programmed the bridge replacement in its regional Transportation Improvement Program at a total estimated cost of $1,478,000, funding the work through $1,404,100 in state support and $73,900 in local money.
Contractor crews began construction on June 1, 2026, under local-let administration. Physical work on the bridge is scheduled to conclude on Oct. 30, 2026.
